Geographically hemmed in by nagaland in the north, mizoram in the south, assam’s cachar district in the west and bordered by burma in the east, manipur’s exotic landscape, with gently undulating hills, emerald green valleys, blue lakes and dense forests, is a tourist’s delight. Famous for it’s orchids, dances and exquisite handicrafts, Manipur is a land of diverse origins. The majority of the people in the state are meiteis, followed by bishnupriya manipuris, nagas, and meitei pangal. Many other colourful communities have also lived together in complete harmony for centuries. The dances of Manipur are an expression of love, creativity and the aestheticism of the people of the state. The locals were earlier recognized as skilful warriors ans still practice wrestling, sword fighting and martial arts.
