Chandigarh is a city known for its festivals and meals. The chandigarh carnival, which takes place in the month of November, is a celebration of talent. Students of the city come together to put up a show- a platform for their creativity. A number of competitions are held during this festival is the festival of gardens, popularly known as the rose festival, celebrated annually at the famous rose garden between the end of February and the beginning of march. Situated between the capitol complex and sukhna lake in sector 1, the open air theatre within the 20-acre rock garden is another spot for several popular performances that are staged frequently in these artistic and well laid-out surroundings. There are an unbelievable 1,600 varieties of roses in the famous rose garden in chandigarh. Inside the rock garden, the artificial waterfall is popular with tourists too.
