Manipur

The Manipuri dance may be the best known facet of this princely state, but the traveler who ventures off the beaten track will discover many more hidden gems. Hardly surprising, when the state’s name itself translates to ‘place jewels’.
Lord Irwin christened it the ‘switzerland of india’, and for once, it would be hard to argue with the british! The landscape makes you feel you have walked into a painting-emerald valleys divided by sparkling streams nestle in the folds of undulating hills. And there’s more. The gracious locals invite you in to their homes, where the celebration of life is an everyday affair. Warmth and camaraderie, artistic dances and exquisite handicrafts, delicious meals and cups of tea, are all shared with visitors, making a trip here much more than a regular ‘holiday’.
