Remains Of The Past

Touching the western end of jharkhand are the rajmahal hills, in the sahibgunj district. Rajmahal is an ancient, built during the reign of emperor akbar during the mid-15th century. The architectural character of the mughal dynasty can still be seen in the ruins here. A unique feature of this area is fossillised flora, preserved for millions of years as impressions, casts and petrifications. Plans are a foot to build a fossil park and museum here. Another beautiful aspect of this area is the moti jharna, a waterfall that takes its anme from the droplets of water that resemble pearls. A unique aspect of this water fall is that it never dries up. To reach rajmahal you can take an overnight train from ranchi or kolkata to sahibgunj district, where you can stay. Take a cab from here to rajmahal.
