Take A Hike

Sun-kissed sands, crystal clear waters and tall, gently swaying palms make ganapatipule the perfect getaway from Mumbai. This delightful little place along the konkan coast is also popular as a place of pilgrimage thanks to the ancient swyambhu ganesh temple and the velneshwar Shiva temple. If you enjoy hiking, walk the 35 km to the historical jaigad fort and neighboring pawas village. Kamshet is one of India’s leading paragliding destinations; its name taken in the same breath as billing in himachal and arambol in goa. A sleepy little hamlet along the Mumbai-pune expressway, it offers perfect flying conditions and has several take off points such as tower hill, temple hill, shinde wadi and kondeshwar cliff scattered around it. With tigers, panthers, sloth bears, sambars, wild boars and wild dogs to stir things up a bit, chikaldhara is a great destination for some wildlife encounters.
