Divine land

It’s a land as beautiful as its people. Simple and soft-spoken, you’ll fall in love with the manipuris on your very first visit to the state. Lakes, tapering cliffs of the sub-himalayan range and a cup-shaped valley make Manipur one of the most beautiful states in India. Everything here traces its roots to nature, from folkfore to myths and from legends to dances, traditional games and martial arts, as well as the exotic and beautiful handlooms and handicrafts- everything is embedded in the mystique of nature. In sport, Manipur is a mosaic of traditions and cultural patterns best represented by its dance forms.

Need For Speed

A few years back, when the Indian government destitute the entry fee and revenue share for international long distance licenses, the number of service providers jumped from four to 31 resulting in intense competition and lower costs to the users. The government wants to do something similar with broadband too. A suggestion made at a broadband technology conference last month was to making connections free or near-free, and levy charges on the basis of usage of content. However, the major contention killing the growth of broadband is gait: 90 percent of the present 2.7 million connections are getting only 256kbps bandwidth. For once, tech revolution won’t remain urban sparks. As part of the center’s broadband plans for rural India, BSNL is planning to provide broadband connectivity over wire-line to 25,000 villages through Wi-Max; and to the inaccessible interior using satellite.

Getting Physical

It’s not just the khajuraho temples that send the blood rushing to your head in Madhya Pradesh; there’s also a whole different lot of excitement in the state, all connected with adventure sports. Mhow, near indore, is one of india’s foremost military installations. It is also the state’s prime hang-gliding destination, with flights organished by the military both for themselves and for civilians. In the charming hill station of pachmarhi, the lanjee giri hill is ideal for rock climbing, especially for amateurs; close to the summit are plenty of routes that make for easy scaling. Madhya Pradesh is also home to the largest wildlife sanctuary in asia, the kanha national park. Visit the land of the jungle book and take the safari in your own four-wheel drive vehicle, or on elephant back; watch out for sightings of the tiger, the tiny mouse deer or the rare hard ground barasingha, found only in kanha.

The Car /Garrage

Currently, our cars are the dumbest of the gadgets we interface with, and hopefully, manufacturers will bring some of the technological sophistication that already exists in luxury sedans into the models for the masses. Even currently available technology can make our cars a million times smarter than they are today, and hopefully this segment will be less ignored in the future-especially as traffic congestion increases, in turn increasing the time we spend inside our cars. Global positioning systems (GPS) are already available in more expensive cars, so imagining this in every car is hardly far-fetched. This will enable your house CPU to connect to the central traffic server, using your predefined authentication, and inform your family of your whereabouts. It will also let your family contact you on your car’s communications system.

Your PDD could interface with your car, telling it where your next appointment is, and pinpoint your destination to the car’s GPS device. Satellite imagery could help your car automatically chart the fastest route to your destination, taking into consideration traffic and weather conditions.

A World Of Its Own

Not for uttar Pradesh the blandness of serene landscapes. This is a rugged, hardy land, where life is rarely a fairytale-come-true. Rather, up moves to its own beat; throbbing with emotion, depth, humour, quirks and a seemingly limitless capacity to surprise the intrepid traveler. There are its much-celebrated land marks- the taj mahal, fatehpur sikri, lucknow’s bara and chota imambara, the venerated towns of mathura-brindavan, the sacred ghats at varnasi, and much else. Equally, there is a uttar Pradesh travelers have yet to discover- the lush landscapes of the bundelkhand region, the imposing fort at kalinjar, the jain temples at deogarh, the holy town of chitrakoot. The gamcha slung over a priest’s shoulder; a determined flower growing out of a crevice; the multi-hued sails of a fishing boat. The essence of a land and a people that defy slotting into one neat package.

O’Neill’s H2 Series Backpack

Energy source is the persistent problem with many portable computing products such as MP3 players, cell phones and other electronics devices. The built-in rechargeable batteries can hardly hold fort for a day and if you are the adventurous type, this problem is simply compounded by the lack of access to electricity. The solar panels generate power during favourable lighting conditions and supply it to your ipod, mobile phone and integrated Bluetooth module via a USB connection. The system also has an electronic board that senses which device is in the most need of power and smartly allocates it accordingly. Apart from the solar panel, the backpack also has an integrated Bluetooth module for hands free calling. A microphone is built into the left shoulder strap to control playback of the ipod without having to reach for the device deep inside the pack.

Etched In Stone

The exquisitely carved temples of khajuraho have long been a celebration of Indian art, but india’s fifth largest state has more than striking architecture to offer the traveler. Madhya pradesh’s rich religious heritage is evidence in its diverse temples, stupas and masijids and competes with its cultural inheritance- its royal forts and palaces-for attention. Steeped in divinity, diversity and vibrant celebration, the state’s glorious history is reflected in its imposing forts, grand palaces, and sky-skimming temples. These are gushing waterfalls, winding rivers, miles of dense forest and parks that teem with some of the most varied wildlife in the country. The bandhavgarh and kanha national parks support a stunning variety of flora and fauna, including the nilgai, the four-horned antelope, sambar, gaur, black buck, and the chital. Today, serious efforts are being made to preserve this habitat. This state is a great destination for those looking to immerse themselves in art and culture, or overdose on nature.

Destiny's Child

Delhi is very much history’s child. Past and present meld seamlessly here , making centuries- old monuments part of the city’s daily life. Ancient structures peep out from behind green roundabouts. Forts, palaces, tombs , formal gardens, places of worship and marketplaces from different periods in Delhi’s history are strewn all over. In central Delhi , take in Rashtrapati Bhavan , India Gate , Parliament House and Connaught place for a glimpse of indo-Saracenic architecture , and the Rajput style Jantar Mantar closeby. The Mughal touch is obvious in old Delhi’s Red fort, jamma masjid and chandni chowk. Early muslim monuments like the Qutub minar, Hazrat Nizamuddin’s dargah and several others stand proudly in south Delhi.

Spark Gets New Look

The spark makes an stirring inniation. Tough few mhatiz lineage, the car has plagiarized with time and grown into a far more will miss the Daewoo competent machine. The ambrosial looking spark is also exceedingly refined and sanguine on the road, with only its high-speed stability being a bit of a letdown. The pricing is marginally more than the rest, but thanks to its preponderant fuel efficiency, low cost of sermon and extended collateral, its outlay of running should be quite triffling. They has also cinched that the spark’s interior has a distinctive and elated flavour and offers more features than its rivals. Performance figures clearly determined that spark is better than santro and estilo.

Misty Mountain High

Darjeeling was an extremely popular destination during the days of the british raj. Its wonderful climate, clear brisk air and the breathtaking views of the himalays drew the british eager to escape the stifling heat fo kolkatta. The spectacular views and the climate are still the same, attracting hordes of tourists from the metro. If you’re feel to it, you can also deviate a bit and visit plasset where Robert clive fought the decisive that gave England control over India. The road to darjelling via kurseong is through the Himalayan foothills and filled with wonderful views of forests and rivers. But just be careful around the curves. Though scenic and beautiful, never take this road at night as it passes through the rather unsafe states of jharkhand and bihar.
